What is NetCDF?
Network Common Data Form (NetCDF) is a file format for large array-oriented datasets. It is widely used within the atmospheric and oceanic science communities due to the multidimensional nature of their data. The NetCDF software, developed by UNIDATA, is freely available and well documented. Data can be read and written universally by a host of programming languages and visualization tools.
